Today I will be featuring a very fine group of folks - the (no name) Art Group.
It all started with a group of folks working for a KYW-TV3 station in Philadelphia, who decided that their creativity needed an outlet, because corporate world just wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
So they started having art roundups, with a theme and a deadline, except there were no marketing involved or bottom lines and each artist decided which medium and subject matter to use.
Before long, they became involved in charity work, and as of now, each project is tied with a charity cause.
In their own words:
(no name) Art Group supports local and international charities
through creative art exhibitions and fundraisers dedicated to raising
awareness of significant world issues. Our group has raised thousands of
dollars for charities including First Book Philadelphia, Philabundance
Hunger Relief, Recipe 4 Success India, Trees For Life Scotland,
BuildABridge, Lifestart Foundation Vietnam, AMURECI and Maripoza Azul
Costa Rica, and El Shadai Foster Home Uganda.
Special mention should be made for Sherry Berger, who founded and propelled this group for years and have been instrumental to the majority charity connections. She's traveled to many of the countries where charities that (no name) Art Group is connected to and worked with people that (no name) Art Group helps. She's got an amazing personality and seemingly endless energy; she is an immensely wonderful and fun person to talk to, always helpful and knowledgeable.
So, head on over to their website and check out their amazing body of (art)work. Currently, their project is wine labels with the theme of "Love of the Place" and the everybody's entries are amazing.
